Our society is on the brink of yet another technological revolution. We have the means and tools to take all of this to the next level, all we are missing are the right tools to make this process worthwhile. All we need is a way to marry data computation and collection with the huge range of devices on the market. We need a powerful and reliable network, and that’s where 5G comes into play.

5G in a Big Data World

The reason why 5G in a Big Data World matters is because 5G is a lot more than its predecessors. It’s a major technological paradigm shift. This is a network that will offer support for the entire ecosystem of applications, devices, and sensors that are all connected to one another. It’s a much more powerful network designed to bring in front tremendous benefits for the user and higher work capacity.

Mobile World Congress 2018 shifted focus to 5G

Most of the major Mobile World Congress news this year was related to 5G. In fact, Intel is working on 5G phones and PCs, Huawei unveiled its first 5G customer premises equipment and ZTE also wants to create its own 5G smartphone by the end of this particular year. Moreover, Sprint announces support for 6 cities that will receive 5G support, those being Dallas, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta and Washington DC as well as Los Angeles. Also, even Telstra plans to launch 5G in 2019. So, it’s safe to say that this year and the next will see more 5G adoption all over the world.

How Will 5G Change the Industrial Internet of Things?

The IoT & 5G Use Cases are very diverse. Just about all industries, from IoT to automotive or healthcare are set to have a major impact on our day to day lives. When you have 5G connectivity, your car can interact with other devices to let you know when you will arrive at work. You will also receive notifications on your phone when you are out of gas and so on. The focus here is on interconnecting all devices and offering you more control and information. The same thing goes with industrial IoT. You get to have much better control over what happens, what tasks are completed and how they are completed as well. Since analysts predict that in 2020 there will be 20+ billion IoT devices in the world, the possibilities are rather limitless. And that’s the thing that truly shines, the fact that both IoT and 5G have a very promising future.

With 5G, devices will be better able to communicate with each other

This is what 5G is all about. 3G and 4G were more about offering devices better connection speeds and precision. But that’s all a thing of the past. Right now the focus is on offering better AI and interconnectivity. It’s a system that works amazingly well and which can easily be adapted to the customer’s requirements. Not only that, but this interconnectivity goes hand in hand with machine learning. Devices will learn from interacting with you, and their focus will be to adapt the way they work to suit your needs and requirements.

5G could revolutionize B2B communication, and it’s also set to turbocharge marketing campaigns too. Since it all comes down to device interconnectivity, 5G brings more control in our hands, and it also eliminates some of the old ways of completing various tasks. It’s safe to say that 5G does represent the rise of AI in our day to day lives. And this is a good thing because big data will enable better network and application intelligence in 5G. The future is bright thanks to 5G, although we can expect a whole lot of challenges when it comes to changing the current infrastructure and modifying it for the 5G revolution!
